The average salary is between 350 and 450 eur. Quoting 700 or more is simply cringey.
Branko on Aug 13, 2024:
The average salary in Belgrade is around 120.000. The 96.000 figure is the national average for Serbia.
Brennan on Aug 06, 2024:
Nightlife of this city is incredible, especially in weekends.

Overall Serbia government is notorious for harboring drug dealers just as long as they get side cash to look the other way which happens quite often.Serbia is a dangerous drug ridden country a fact.

Average salary in Belgrade is not right referance, workers get way less than managers and the real average is 85.000 dinars so it is around 700 euros.
Nenad on Mar 18, 2024:
Average sallary in Belgrade is around 115.000 Serbian dinars or 1.000 euros.
The sallary is not updated. The sallary of 88.000 dinars is average level in whole Serbia(not Belgrade).

I said again after short thinking regarding real estate pricing renting and housing.PRices are made probably by real estate agents in order to profit more than market prices are.1 bedroom apartmant in Belgrade 30-35 m2 outside city center you can find for 150 euro if you speak serbian .2 bedroom apartmant 200 eura you can choose among thousands of offers. These prices here regarding renting of flats are overpriced.Horribly.150-200 euro a month that is the real price of renting 1 or 2 bedroom fully furnished apartmant in Belgrad not in center but in some suburbs with 15 minutes bus drive to the city center.Period.
Belgradian on Apr 26, 2023:
PRices for renting apartmants are NOT accurate.I rent 37 m2 apartmant 18 km from center with frequent bus lines to city center for 130 euro a month without utility bill.Utility bills are 50 euros max.180 euro is 37m2 an apartment with utility bills 1 bedroom, kitchen, toilet ,in many cases and balcony too.

Living outside Belgrade in some near villages will cost you 150 euros for a house with land fully furnished 20 km far from city but with good bus lines especially village under Avala mountain with great view and much cleaner air and less frequent trafic than in city centre.

Overall prices for renting apartmants here are 3x more expensive than in reality.

Nice city, great food. But Serbian people are not sociable and don't want to meet and befriend foreigners. The women are also totally stuck up, so forget about having a good dating life!

@Anonymous on Aug 24, 2022 on taxes in Serbia>

here is a very helpful site to get pretty accurate tax information on countries worldwide: https://taxsummaries.pwc.com
For Serbia check here: https://taxsummaries.pwc.com/serbia/individual/taxes-on-personal-income

As you mentioned after spending 183 days in Serbia you are considered resident thus taxable on your worldwide income (see residency section of the above mentioned report). Also I did not find any mention of a tax exclusion or special deductions for incomes out of retirement plans for that country (Serbia) in the report.

Getting trustable information before making such important decisions resp. moves is key. Keeping up to date with such information is key also as things can change (sometimes quickly as it happened in Malaysia with the MM2H program). Double checking information even if trusted is not a bad idea either.

Overpriced real estates for a city without metro, bad cleaning services, bad traffic, bad air quality, half baked city center... Clubing is also overrated in my opinion, there are a lot of night clubs (kafanas), but they all are the same. If you see one, you've seen them all.

Americans have an old saying its only mind over matter because you don't matter to us.
Milos on Nov 15, 2021:
Pretty accurate. Life in Belgrade is much much easier and better now in 2021 and its been on an upward scale for the past couple years. Education matters, jobs are everywhere and its just getting better. My wife is from Singapore and she is amazed with life here. Both leaving USA and moving to Belgrade for good.

" If the Serbian government would care enough to understand the pay scale overall isn't adequate to live comfortably things would be much better for everyone."

So it's only about the Government understanding? Simple as that? Are you living on Mars?
Anonymous on Mar 24, 2021:
Serbia has been on a downward spiral for years now and it isn't getting any better I'm from Belgrade. The amounts of money given by people aren't correct. If the Serbian government would care enough to understand the pay scale overall isn't adequate to live comfortably things would be much better for everyone.
Anonymous on Feb 27, 2021:
Keep in mind that Serbian Bureau of Statistics lies about average salaries, so the people dont revolt and the main party stays in power. The real situation is that average salary is around 350 euros, and the prices of everything is the same as in west Europe. Exept real estate and cigarettes.
Marko on Feb 01, 2021:
Average net salary for Belgrade was 75649 RSD in november 2020 and not 61617 RSD.

I spent one month in Serbia two weeks in Belgrade two weeks in Nis.If you're looking for a place that pretty much has it all for a much reduced standard of living without giving up convience, then Nis is that place. Ofcourse Belgrade is nice too which we enjoyed during our visit.

No matter what country anyone is from there'll never be peace amoung people because they want to represent their ideals of their country upon others and expect them to agree which will never happen. Many people may think the pandemic worldwide is a terrible thing and it is in certain ways. But one thing is for certain it has forcefully made people around the world to distance themselves from each other.Travel has been highly restricted worldwide too.No matter where anyone is from or what their status is in life another thing is a reality. The pandemic has truly alienated people and cultures from each other which is just the beginning of the new normal.Although costs of living are important to everyone throughout life there's a new need presented it's called survival.

No worries covid19 has put the world on notice and it's the beginning of the end even though people around the world won't accept the outcome the proof is total inaliation. However people around the world desperately needed a wake up call, but remember it's just the beginning of much more to come no matter how much others cannot accept doom and gloom being a stark reality.

Actually I've visited Serbia three times in the last 5 years, I found it affordable, I agree with some previous comments that there is some stereotype or a propaganda which promote Eastern Europe as a bad place, there is many Eastern European countries who have developed and managed to build a good economy such as Poland which is located in central Europe, where Poland used to be in the past and where they are in the present time, Italy France and Spain are suffering from bad economy, I don't speak Serbian but I managed to find few nice and friendly Serbian people who were kind and warm, I think Serbia deserves a chance to develop and move forward, I am thinking with my partner to open a small size business in Serbia, I don't know much people in Serbia but I would like to make new friends
