From Japanese on Aug 27, 2024:
Comes from Japan, but many are a bit cheaper (10-15 percent)
The original apt rate for the dollar is said to be 92 yen = $1.00 (the Big Mac Index is not reliable in Japan due to the high competition in restaurants).

A Norwegian acquaintance of mine says that the standard of living is higher in Japan compared to Norway.

"Full of socially avoidant nerds without any charisma. Hong Kong is the same"

You say that like its a bad thing. People who keep to themselves, are clean and dont bother you seems like a huge plus.
Curious person on Feb 04, 2024:
Are rents this low or average wages this high? How can you possibly rent six apartments with your wage?

In the first place, water is basically free in Japanese restaurants, so it should be displayed as 0 yen.

Crazy how salaries are higher in Japan than Sweden but rent and mortgage is half of Sweden. What a disgrace Sweden has become, I am ashamed!
Mochi on Nov 15, 2023:
In many ways better than the USA, and that's an understatement.

If you live as a student on a budget, you would have to spend from 80,000 yen to 10,000 yen per month with rent. Not that expensive

Currently Japan has 110 million people very few babies born over the last 20 years plus.Within 10 to 15 years Japan will no longer exist.Japan had the same one child policy as china but so much time has passed rejuvenation of the population in both countries spells extinction but in all fairness every country globally are facing the same thing.

Tina on Jan 21, 2023:
Rent should really include the move in costs. Those are around 6x the cost of rent, so it’s mostly the illusion of a cheaper rent happening here…

I've never been interested in visiting Japan or anywhere else in Asia including anywhere in Europe. I normally go where I'm treated best like where I'm from the U S.I've been contacted numerous times at the company I work for by numerous large companies in Asia for my IT tech expertise and I didn't contact any of them prirorly.People will be people no matter where they live worldwide but I've never been interested in the other side.
