Cost of Living in Vienna

Én most élek itt egy éve Bécsben. Egy kissebb nyomdában dolgozok ahol mindenfélét csinálok betanított minkásként. Heti 10 óra túlórával, azaz napi +2 óra keresek 5920 eurot lakhatási támogatással. Egy két szoba plusz nappalis lakásb bérlünk a külvárasban 12000 euroért plusz rezsi ami még 400 euro. A párom is dolgozik és hasonló a keresete, a gyerekünk 16 éves és az iskolai hozzájárulásunk havi 320 euró, ebben étkezés is van, benne a tanszerek és könyvek.

Is 85k gross p.a. considered a good salary for an IT professional in Vienna?

Rent prices on this web-site for Vienna are low, because it has option to rent social apartments (foreigners must live in Vienna minimun 2 years, have a job and do registration in Wiener-Wohnen for this service). Rent apartments in social house is 40% cheaper than rent from private owner. Besides there are a lot apartments from Genossenschaft (Cooperative), where prices are 25-30% lower than private-sector. It need to pay once investment-cost for possibility to rent in Cooperative. Social and Cooperative gives unlimited rent-agreement, this information is actual for people, who want to live in Vienna for a long term.
The average salary isn't correct, because there is a big difference between salary for low qualified (less than 2000€ netto) and high skilled workers (more than 3000€ netto).

These numbers look outdated for Vienna. I looked at apartment listings in the Inner Bezirks of Vienna and rent looks about 30% higher on average. The amenities are lower than what you see in most major American cities too.

These numbers ( from rent to house prices to grocery) are way off. The most unrealistic of any city I checked. Something isnt right here. Any other austrian city scores way lower which doesnt add up. 2% mortgage fixed for 20 years? doesnt exist...you r not getting even 3% for 10 years.

The average income in 2021 (calculated in 2022) for the area of Vienna as given by the Statistik Institute of Austria is of 2100 euros net/month. The gross income average for all of Austria is 31400 euros, so nowhere near what people are declaring above.

I am a 39 yrs old expat, make €3100 net as a civil engineer. The rent for my 3 bedroom house close to the city center is €1200 /mth, energy €118/mth (class A insulation / double glazing). I have to say Vienna is a very good place to live, the people are direct, nature is stunning, clean streets and lovely food. Gruss Got!

These numbers should be updated, most of them are much higher I think than it is stated here... Especially the rents and services...

Crazy to see people spending 1000 Euro a month on food. Shows how unrealistic this site is. I eat quite healthy and only spend 240 euros on food per month at most. That's 60 euros a week.

I wanted to know the salary breakup for a 50,000 salary in Vienna, Austria. We are a married couple and one of us will not start working right away as my partner is in the process of getting a job offer. This is the offer I have received. Please let me know if this will be enough for both of us. We are fine living in a one bedroom apartment too.

I'm looking into possibly moving to Vienna and would love to know if the following information I found is correct for two people without children:

Rent for 1 bedroom appt.: 1000-1500 p/m
Utilities: 100-200 p/m
Internet: 15-35 p/m
Food: 750-1000 p/m
TOT: 950 - 1400 per person p/m

PERSONAL COSTS
Transport: 365 p/y
Medical: free or set aside 100 p/m?
Insurance: covered by company?
Mobile: 20 p/m
TOT: 150 p/m (avg)

So total costs p/p would be 1100 - 1550 p/m?
Am I missing any costs in this list?
