#1 Central Africa (#1 Central African Republic; #2 Democratic Republic of the Congo; #3 Chad)
#2 West Africa (#1 Mali; #2 Burkina Faso; #3 Nigeria)
#3 Melanesia (#1 Papua New Guinea; #2 Solomon Islands; #3 Fiji)
#5 Southern Africa (#1 South Africa; #2 Lesotho; #3 Eswatini/Swaziland)
#6 East Africa (#1 Somalia; #2 South Sudan; #3 Burundi)
#8 Caribbean (#1 Haiti; #2 Jamaica; #3 Trinidad & Tobago)
Regions like East Africa and the Caribbean include lots of places with big populations that reduce the overall score to a lower one than you might expect. OTOH, 90% of the populations of Melanesia and Southern Africa are comprised of Papua New Guinea and South Africa respectively (the Southern Africa here excludes Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Malawi etc). Homicides in the Caribbean are hugely concentrated in Haiti alone.
The top 3 and 6 of the top 8 are melanin regions. Why is this so? This is NOT a politicized post it's meant to be a serious question.
