It's not worth it. 3 years ago maybe it was a good time to buy. Not any longer.

Prices are hopelessly out of date.
A 0.5 litre bottle of local beer just cost me 135 lira in a downtown hostel bar (over £5). Inflation is rife but only part of the picture.

The prices above changes weekly, and is easily based on the cheapest price for each product possible. A round of beef is not 225TL a kg, its more like 320TL a kg. Rent is sky high, inflation is easily at 200%. In May 2021, a 400g pack of ground beef was 23TL, it is now 100TL. The currency looses pase daily to the dollar and this is a import economy.

Prices increase on daily basis, because there is 80% inflation. Antalya is a beautiful city except the residential buildings. The seaside promenade at the Konyaalti and Lara is beautiful. But, the apartment buildings looks like concrete jungles with little space to breathe. They are ugly buildings with no characters, sort of reminds the Projects in Brooklyn and Bronx, the high rise apartment buildings for low income families. But, the projects buildings actually look better. It is obvious, very little urban planning went into the neighborhood designs. Turkey is a crowded third world country with two many people and not enough resources to go around, but it shouldn’t be an excuse for poor urban planning. Uncontrolled growth seems to be destroying the cities like Istanbul and Antalya.

Prices increased a lot in the past 6 months across everything but especially for housing and fuel. It is not the cheap Mediterranean heaven anymore due to internal financial policies, oil crises and Ukraine-Russia conflict.

Foreigners who wish to purchase property, prices are hiked especially for you.

For people who asks if it is safe for christians, dudes, yesterday I was at local market(bazaar) and nearly all people were tourists. And Alanya, (a city in Antalya) there are three type of signs in shops. One is Turkish, one is german, one is russian. And even, there are shops without turkish signs. In 2015'ish, a german was candidate for local government, so yeah, it is safe for christians :))

I have seen many comments regarding that if it is safe to live if you are a foreigner or different religion etc. Antalya is one of the most multicultural metropolitan city in Turkey after Istanbul. It is very safe and people are friendly.

Can a single man with a monthly income of $ 750 have a good life in Antalya? Thank you for answering me.
Ziz on Nov 21, 2020:
Hello
Is 8000 Turkish lira sufficient for a good lifestyle for 2 adults in Antalya, with all expenses such as 2 bedroom, electricity, water, internet, going out occasionally, transportation, rent a car etc?
Ali on Nov 11, 2020:
Does anyone know what’s the monthly premium for private health insurance for an expat couple in Turkey? Want to spend a few months or potentially years in Istanbul/Antalya. Also, what is the best residential neighborhoods in Antalya? Like a place close to the beach where there are plenty of restaurants and dining options. We speak Turkish, we are not very religious, a neighborhood with well educated secular residents (other retirees Turkish or foreigners would be perfect) will be ideal match. Thanks
