Cost of Living in Boston

The cost of living is high in Boston but it is absolutely NOT represented in the comments below. Much of 'the facts' are simply made up. The last poster, for example: 'Very hard to be broke and rely on the MTA subway which is filled with junkies and always breaking down.' This is completely made up. (it's the MBTA btw)

Each writer appears to have a big chip on their shoulder, and this begins with them, not Boston.

I mean all the talk about science, biotech, schools and blah blah blah is great but I'm sorry this really doesn't merit the price ask to live in not just the area but the state. For what you pay Boston should have better and more varied restaurants, a more vibrant social scene, better eye candy...IDK, just more social warmth. It's not a bad place and the industries it focuses on are important. But it is toe toe toe expensive with places like LA, NYC or London for not enough quirks or life. The state's cost of living comes from there not being enough housing for the populace it has. Either MA has to create more housing to humanize the cost of breathing there or add more amenities/distractions to merit the cost and compete with the more expensive cities that offer more character like NYC. Chicago for example offers way more than Boston in an almost NYC level but it costs less than Boston. MA and Boston are expensive, sure have focused industries, but it is a boring place overall for what you get. Ot doesn't really accommodate for the young, single and without children crowd (18-late 30s-early 40s). Great for the marries, with children or parents in general and the elderly. But for the in-between areas the asking prices are ridiculous unless they're the live to work sort whose social life primarily consists of going to work.

2021 you can live for a few days in boston with earning 3k a month but you will indeed starve to death after 7 days because 3k is enough to rent a cubical called a studio, but you won't have enough for food. Better chances is to buy an rv and rent a parking spot, probably would cost you 300$ a month for that parking(you won't find street parking) and another 1000$ in expenses aka fuel (you will be stuck in traffic for hours). However the taxes will probably make your wallet bleed and you will eventually starve aswell. Best option honestly is be very lucky and smart and spend 200k on medical school, preferably Harvard, and wait a couple of years until you eventually earn the big bucks, only after, you will be able to afford a 1bd apt in the projects, and be able to afford a 2001 Honda civic and live off ramen. Boston life is good am I right?
