@ George

A 35k AED wage is enormous for Dubai so we doubt you're being honest with us :)
Anonymous on Dec 24, 2023:
@george 10k if you live relatively modest, bcoz 2br close to media city is 7-10k, good car relatively new probably 3k, 2k bills that’s already 15k and another 10k for everything else food, cloth, going out, occasional travel , leaving you with about 10k in saving - you down size in accommodation and car then probably that will free a max of 5k, brining the total to 15k

@Adwds - minimum 35K (10K - 2BD/3BD APT), (10K Schooling if not provided), (5K bills + Car expense), (5K food), (5k buffer for other stuff) at 40K you should be okay, 50K comfortable, 60K the good life starts

25k is great if you're single or a couple without kids - if the 5k is guaranteed then you are making 30k (not sure how it's monthly since you are in IT and not sales) at 30k you can afford a preschool kid also. hope this helps good luck

Thanks in advance

TO Ian,

it's okay till your kid needs to go to school basic math is as follows, rent is between 7 - 10k for mid range 2 bedroom, healthcare insurance is relatively cheap (I am surprised you company doesn't cover it), Schooling is the issue, brit schools are about 5 - 6K a month. so good for you to come save like about 2K pounds a month till your kid is of schooling age then go back
ian on Sep 15, 2023:
Hi, I have an offer of AED 30000 per month (which is 6500 pounds) to move from the UK but no extra allowance for schooling, healthcare or housing. I have a wife and a 2yr old kid so I am not sure this offer is good enough for a decent quality of life. I currently make 3000 pounds per month and have a decent life but something tells me the expenses are much larger in Dubai so it is more or less the same with no great improvement. Am I wrong?

With regards to the comments re LGBT , you should remember 1- LGBT ‘rights’ are not universal values and 2- the UAE is a Muslim country . If you are so concerned about LGBT rights then you should leave the UAE and live in France or another European country

To Laura.

Dubai is one of the safest places to live in the world. It's multicultural with all different races living and working together with no issue. From Dubai, you can travel to almost anyone on earth with one to two flights max. There is food from around the world too. We also have religious freedom here and English is widely spoken. Whilst yes, Dubai has some LGBT+ issues, and press freedom to an extent and it gets very hot during the summer. I cannot imagine living anywhere else but Dubai.

Do not judge a place based on what others tell you. It is a desert utopia and like I mentioned LGBT+ issues, there are plenty of LGBT+ here that are loved and not punished.

Please kindly, not talk bad about Dubai.

My partner and I (unmarried) along with our kids (15yo and 1yo) and a cat are considering to move to Dubai.

My partner got a job offer from one of the airline with a salary of 45,000 aed basic + extra duty pay + educational cover + health care cover + travel allowance.

Will 35~40,000 aed be enough to cover to the usual monthly running cost of rent (3bedroom apartment, internet tv, electricity and other utilities, grocery etc)

Which area is family friendly that would not take more than 30mins tops driving to the airport?

TIA

I want to move to Dubai, I have 2 childeren and I assume I have to pay for the school fees myself since I will have my own business, that means 90k aed anually.

Now it states that the livingcost in Dubai is on an avg 14% cheaper than Amsterdam... Thats totally wrong when you have 1 or more childeren. Just the school fees are around 7000 aed a month. In amsterdam schooling is free and after they turn 18 it will cost roughly 1200-2000 eur annualy.

Correct me if I am wrong

We are a family of 5 including me, my wife, my two children (aged 12 years and 16 years respectively) and father (aged 75 years). Children study in the IGCSE board. What should be an ideal annual package in either dollar terms or AED to justify the relocation to Dubai and also to justify a decent savings of appx. $40,000 annually, which increases year on year. Also please do factor the accommodation, education and medical expenses (insurance).

Looking forward for a quick response.

If your total household income is 32k Aed with a family of 4 you’re not gonna save 5k$ a month (which is pretty much half the salary), someone else has to get a job and based on her/his skills can be easy or hard. Your husband cannot work for long under your sponsorship but the company hiring him should provide him a visa, so no issue. If any of your kids are still in education and your company doesn’t provide schooling allowance gonna be tough to save anything with a mid class lifestyle

I have been offered a job at 32000 AED per month as a starting job in IT field. Is that a good salary for a family of 4 to move from Canada to Dubai ? Can my husband and children who have completed their education find jobs there easily to get their work visas ? I have been told being a woman main visa holder my husband can not find work under my sponsor visa which is so unfair.

Your feedback will be appreciated. I don't want to live extravagantly but decently. I want to save at least $5000 Canadian a month while living in Dubai. Would it be possible to manage that?
@Joshua on Jan 01, 2022:
Salaries in Dubai are all over the place in every job. International and prominent companies can pay 25k+ for a Senior profile, SMEs just pay bad salaries in general and they exploit employees. Also if you come from developing countries they’ll try to lowball you, just think about a good threshold and don’t accept nothing below it. If you already have a decent mid class life in your country 25k AED a month should be the minimum to accept

I'm a Pakistani passport holder and as a Software Engineer in Dubai I earn north of 40k.
My advice:
- get experience first in Western countries, especially working in prominent companies, and then as a Senior specialist move to Dubai
- set a threshold that you think is good for a lavish life in Dubai and don't accept nothing below it, otherwise is not worth ... I would say if you come from a Western country (no matter your passport/background) don't accept nothing less than what you're already making GROSS before taxes in your current western country
Melbographer on Jun 19, 2021:
I see many people ask whether XX,0000 per month is a good salary

There is no straight forward answer to this.

The main thing to calculate is :

Where are you from?

I am an indian origin guy in Melbourne.

Home is 14 to 20 hours for me, so benefit of dubai is that i can go home in just 4 hours and go once in a few months.

My friend gets 15k tax free which is similar to what i get after tax here.

If i were to move,

I gotta pay 5k to 6k for an apartment in dubai near my potential employers.

Whereas my 3 bhk house with 2 bathrooms here only cost 4200 aed.

Going to city centre is 35mins in train, which is just 600m away.

My kids can go public school here, but Australian school costs 7 to 8k aed per month.

I can't send them to other schools if certificate is not valid here in case i have to return. Second kid will have another 7k.

So this alone is 21k.

Add living expense then it would be 5k

26k is purely needed to live.

I am still an indian so my skin color and passport will never fetch that salary so i cant move to gcc.

Meanwhile i can make more here with my skills.

I'm going to Dubai under a monthly 25k AED, as extra I will have daillyallowance when traveling and overtime paied half in cash and half in leave. 5 weeks vacation and a yearlly round trip to the family to our country. In the 25k includes salary, house and transport allowances. Me and my wife calculated our monthly cost with supermarket/power/water/phone/ internet/propane based in our currently expenses and converted to the Dubai's value and with that money we can leave nicelly. We can rent a villa around 75k/year in JVC (under our house allowance) and even save part of the allowance. Company will also give school allowance for my daughter until she is 18yo (the allowance can ully pay a good international school without harming my salary).
What you need to be carefull, as everywhere else in the world, is how you spend the money! There are lots of places to spend money in and how you manage that will interfere in your budget.

This is the important question.

I'm a single man in the mid 30s.

Is it possible to find a girlfriend in Dubai on AED 15000 a month?

Should I go there as a single or find someone before moving? I have 30 days left

So I've been offered £3500 per month in Dubai
The first month would be paid for in a hotel to give me time to find a place etc
Would I be saving money each month on this salary?

I am starting an internship in Dubai. They are paying my accommodation, food and the salary is 1200 AED per month. Would that be appropriate amount of money for a single person?

Dubai has the most unorthodox economy depending upon oil. However put a large group of Muslims together and they burn all the same flickering lights of nothingness into the night.

Average salary could be 11k but means nothing when you have such a huge disparity in wealth.
Median is more like 5k.
Mid class starts from 20-25k

I insist on what I wrote John on Jan 10, 2021
on property prices that are the same as another Muslim country like Kuala Lumpur. Fuel prices are the same and it is not such a rich country with a wealth of citizens. I estimate that the prices are a bubble due to the mediation of banks or entrepreneurs who lend naively expecting a high interest rate.
It is no coincidence that people from countries that are bankrupt are looking for work and are looking for the land of promise.
I estimate that money has gone to the Balkans and Asia is more reasonable in cost of living and real estate purchases.
No one answers who knows and everyone writes for a job search.

Hi Guys,

I have been offered a job in Dubai. The package is around 96000 AED annually. Which is 8000 AED/month plus incentives. I’m single moving from India. How’s the cost of living there ? I need to save atleast 30% for my debts in India. Is it advisable to move ? Kindly suggest. Looking for the best suggestion from you guys.

Thanks a ton

ΝEW I wonder while Dubai is about 8% more expensive than Athens and in Athens you need 850 euros to live in Dubai you need about 2500 euros. I estimate that they have entered the Dubai market, whether businessmen or banks, and have created a bubble market.
The same has been done in Thailand Bangkok where the cost of living is about 550 euros with the cost of buying an apartment in the center is 3500-4000 euros.
In Bangkok is the German bank Deutsch Bang with Chinese banks and Russian manufacturers who have even created real estate bubbles. Many Germans, Norwegians marry Thai fakes who transfer all their rights because the law forbids
They are crazy about what they buy or want to launder money from smuggling or drug trafficking. Thailand will lose the quality buyer. The same will happen in Dubai.
While the cost of living buying products is almost the same with differences of about 5% -9% in both Bulgaria, Serbia, Thailand the money you need to live has a huge difference.
If you want send me where you owe the price difference. I am not referring to very expensive areas of Dubai but to popular neighborhoods within the city center.

@Sanka you only need to click on things you know the price of and type what price is. No need to type price of things you do not know they do not care if there are blanks.

I am offered a job of 14000 AED per month for Dubai location. It's jus me and my wife as a family. Is it a decent salary to move to Dubai for us? Approx. how much will I be able to save?
@Ohi on Oct 10, 2020:
30k in Dubai as a single will give you a good mid class life.
There’s no city centre in Dubai, just get a good modern Studio or 1bhk in area nearby work office.
Now you can rent a 1bhk for even less than 40k AED a year.
A good midclass life on a whole will set you back 16k a month all inclusive with rent, groceries, lavish lifestyle and traveling

Is an average monthly salary of 30,000 AED sufficient to live in the city centre and still have enough savings. Anyone with details of what the standard expenses would be for a single working in Dubai?
Gues on Sep 23, 2020:
None here has given what would be a great salary for a family of 4. 40000AED per month with two school going kids with 3 or 4 bed room house/flat and a car with comfortable lifestyle. I might be getting almost similar salary in London but tax gain should not be wasted in spending more. I'd expect to save more or double if possible.
