Jennifer Green on Jul 31, 2022:
Fort Worth is known for its low cost of living, which is a significant factor in the city's popularity. According to the Cost of Living Index, Fort Worth ranks #8 out of 100 cities in the United States. The index measures prices for housing, food, transportation, utilities, and other basic needs.

Another reason Fort Worth is affordable is that it has a low average wage. In 2017, the median wage in Fort Worth was $37,540. This compares to the national median wage of $57,617. Additionally, Fort Worth has a low cost of living because it has few high-cost amenities relative to other cities. For example, while Manhattan has expensive restaurants and hotels, Fort Worth doesn't have as many pricey goods and services. This makes it easier for residents to live comfortably on a budget.
