The city has some nice places to visit and is very walkable.Restaurants close to tourist attractions are really bad.The locals are pretty quite, the chatty people are usually tourists or people that haven't been born/grew up in Hamburg. Some neighboorhods are famous for their crime-rate and every neigboorhood has its nickname.
Highly recommend to read mopo.de (translates into Morning Post)to get an idea of the recent events.
Hamburg is definately prettier than Berlin but also very crowded.
You will not live like a king, sorry to say.
It all depends on your housing needs. Rents can be quite costly, so for an apartment (as a newbie in town) you would easily pay have of your net salary. If you budget and have no car, of course you can save and travel still.
I just accepted an offer of 2500€ net in Hamburg. How hard would it be to live comfortably on this budget ? Will it be possible to save or Travel?
Reply : With 2500 euros net you will live like a King in hamburg foods in supermarket are cheap also in the the restaurant transport ticket almost no one buys it specially at night rents are cheap beers cigarettes are abundant
. Enjoy the Paradise my good old friend.
