I was living in Izmir until I was 25 and I have been living in DK since (I am 50 now). Denmark is a lovely country but if I could turn the time back then I would never leave Izmir. It is one of the best city you can live in Turkey and also south Europe.

New hotspot for visiting foreign men visiting Izmir. Five colleges lots of young loose women almost giving it away to survive. For 200 lira a 20 year old all night but even that's negotiable. Or get a bulk rate meaning 1,000 lira 4 women for the night passed around between 10 foreign men for the night now that's a bargain

So funny reading these prices from MUSTI.How can anyone price anything accurately with the lira fluctuating wildly worth much less than the usd?

One of the biggest problems with turkey is Turkish citizens don't want anyone to visit their country. How dare any foreigner to question the Turkish negative mindset.

The majority of foreign investors have left turkey.Plus many foreigners living in Turkey have left due to expensive fluctuations in rent and realestate taxes too.
No economy can sustain itself with the current economic climate.I'm sure Turkish citizens aren't seeing anything as beautiful anymore for good reasons. The bad decisions is crushing them financially.

Bye bye turkey

Hello Levent Turer I have never been to Turkey and I have plans to it visit very soon.
And I 100% agree with you, if someone doesn't like a city or a country don't lie about it.

Replying to "Anonymous on Jun 02, 2022" I am sorry you felt that way and you left. I was born in Izmir and living ever since. My wife works in an international school and we have many international friends who have been living here for many years. Never heard from one that they won't exchange US dollar to Turkish Lira. If you were saying viceaversa and in huge amounts (like converting 1 million Turkish liras to USD) then you may be right. But to tell the truth I don't believe 3 Turkish banks and exchange offices won't convert your USD to TRY and tell you "you are taking advantage of Turkey since dollars are worth much more currently". I am sorry to say but this is AN ABSOLUTE LIE!!! I can bet on my very life that this won't happen.

You may not like a city/country but please don't lie about it.

As a Izmir citizen I've visited every area of turkey just to experience the ignorance. Nobody in Izmir really cares about Ramadan we drink Raki eat and do anything we want.Ramadan means absolutely nothing to Izmerians and this is why.Others are stuck in ancient ignorant ways. Those who believe like that waste their lives for something that's never existed in the first place.Ismerians are hated seen as cursed but it doesn't bother us in the least.Keep your ignorance to yourselves because it doesn't work in Izmir and it never will.

If you're an American citizen living in Izmir I'd advise you to leave.Turkey government is starting to blame the U S for the devaluation of the Lira. Over the past 9 months Turkish citizens have been becoming very aggressive towards U S citizens. But reality being Turkish citizens have never liked U S citizens very much anyway. I've lived in Izmir for almost 14 years now and the difference attitude wise is a 360.But Erdogan, needs a scapegoat so U S citizens are his whipping post no doubt.I'm leaving Izmir in two weeks and moving to a different country. To those of you thinking about moving to Turkey be it for college or retirement I'd advise against it due to the circumstances I mentioned priorly. Also everything is atleast,85% higher than before. Banks have been reluctant to exchange dollars for lira.Three different banks wouldn't exchange my dollars to lira. They said I was taking advantage of Turkey since dollars are worth much more currently. Furthermore money exchange places have refused to exchange my dollars stating the same reasons.People throughout Turkey are becoming more desperate unfortunately, but for my own safety I must leave.

I'm giving 120 TRY for 100 mbps internet. Musti is lying.

Turkey has a mind boggling taxes on cars. That's why this country has the most expensive cars in the world. It is impossible to buy a Volkswagen Golf 1.4 with 250.000 TL. It is probably around 450.000 TL.
Anonymous on May 03, 2021:
Because of the earthquake that happened last year and ongoing economic crisis in Turkey you can't find a decent 1 bedroom apartment in city center under 2000 TL and 3 bedrooms are probably going to be around 3500-4000 TL.

It's hard to guage up to date prices in Izmir especially when everything changes so quickly. But since corona prices have dropped drastically since fewer businesses are open.I don't believe Izmir tourism will be back for many years people afraid to visit anywhere and staying at home is the new norm.
Anonymous on Jan 06, 2021:
Note: Izmir is a tourist city always has been so cost of living will be more.
