This is why the quality of life in the country of Laos is bad for the citizens. All the politicians are not in the best interest of the country and it's people but instead are sellouts. I guess they don't have much of a choice in a way but who am I to speak on this subject. If you would create jobs that would pay more than the cost of living then everything would improve and people would want to work. You can't keep doing this to the citizens and expect to still have a country. I guess you sellout politicians are just willing to give up your country, culture, and identity because you aren't willing to stand up and fight for it. I am Laotian looking from the outside and this is my view!

Hmm, Unexpectable. Cant believe the price for a bottle of 330ml water in Vientiane. I can have 3 bottles of 1.5L mineral water for that price here in Malaysia

I have been living in Vientaine Laos for the past two years. I lived in Nongkai, Thailand for 14 years. If you live outside of Vientaine past the airport about 4 km. you can find apartments for less than $200.00. I live in a brand new 1 bedroom unfurnished apartment with a large bedroom, nice kitchen and a sizable living room with a very nice bathroom for $170.00. I also have two air conditioners one in the bedroom and one in the living room. I have never had an electrical bill over $33.00 and I even have a washing machine and two ceiling fans, and I run my air conditioning system a lot. If you live downtown Vientaine yes you are going to pay more, much more, but living just 7km outside of the center of Vientaine you can live very cheap, and save a lot of money on everything. I live for half the price here than I did in Nongkai, Thailand. I do miss Tesco Lotus in Nongkai though.

Laos is going to be much more expensive especially since Laos government agreed to allow China to build a railroad shipping route and a power grid.
