It's not difficult to check the current income level in Poland - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_countries_by_average_wage

Gross is 1900 EUR. Add 20-25% for Warsaw and you are at 2300-2400 EUR.

Living example -my civil servant net earning is 2500 EUR. Which what I heard from my German colleagues from Berlin is more or less comparable with their.

The interest rate for buying real estate is no longer valid (August 2024). In fact, 7.5-7.8%% was in 2022 and 2023, but we are currently refinancing the loan (https://refinansujemy.com/) to 6.7% - in August there were drops in interest rates in banks.

Well. I don't believe the average salary is 1800 euro .

@Varalez

Thank you for your detailed and candid feedback. I appreciate the insights regarding the costs of living in Warsaw, particularly in terms of housing and educational expenses for my children.

Given the costs associated with private and international schools, it seems that a gross salary of 16,000 PLN might indeed be challenging to manage comfortably for a family of five. Your point about private kindergarten costs and international school fees, alongside the rent for a suitably sized apartment, is well taken. It appears that with these expenses, we might struggle financially even before considering other living costs.

Considering this, I would need to evaluate alternative options, such as public schooling, to make this move feasible. Additionally, I will consider discussing the salary package further with my prospective employer to see if there might be room for negotiation or additional benefits that could help offset these costs.

Once again, thank you for your invaluable input. It has provided much-needed clarity and will help us make a more informed decision.
Varalez on Jun 16, 2024:
@Moiz

16k PLN gross for a family of five, with expectation to attend international schools is not feasible. Private kindergarten is between 2000-3000PLN and an international private school (e.g. British School, German School, etc) is around 4000-5000PLN per month. Also, considering the size of your family you need a relatively big flat (60-80m2), that will be around 5000PLN per month depending on the location, so you would have little money left (if any) at the end of the month earning only 16k PLN gross.

Perhaps if you considering sending kids to public schools, it might be feasible.
Moiz on Jun 10, 2024:
I urgently need some genuine feedback and would greatly appreciate it. My company has a role available in Warsaw, Poland, with a gross salary of around 16K. I have a family of five, including my wife and three children. As a non-EU national, my children will need to attend private or international schools. Is it feasible and worthwhile to move to Poland for this role, considering the educational needs and overall living situation? Would this be a good opportunity for career growth?
Nana on Jun 07, 2024:
Average net salary is 7500 pln? I don't think so. In Warsaw region, I would say, real , net average salary is about 5500 pln.

Overall Poland maybe 4000-4500 in real.
It depends on the occupation, but average is like that.

Cost of living getting more and more expensive day by day . But, still slightly cheaper than neighbors....

Warsaw is the capital of Poland with a lot of sightseeings and adventure to visit at least once in a life time.
This city is a friendly place for tourists with a moderate crime index, however, it is recommended to be careful in the nightlife.
Bribery index is also lower than in Hungary, but it is still a problem for the country. As for politics, Polish people have a closely-knit connection with US and Ukranian people nowadays, but Hungarian friendship does still exist. Regarding the quality of women, they are in the top 5 in the world.

AHMAD MALIK on Nov 01, 2023:
I require urgent suggestion.

That I'm going to be selected for the Ph.D. research program in Poland (Warsaw). Having a monthly stipend of 3,600 PLN.

Being an international student is this amount enough to cover all of my expenses or suggest what expenses will be covered and what not? (on average)

In this regard, genuine urgent suggestions are appreciated.

I dine relatively often in restaurants, so I would recommend to add +30 % to mirror the real price level...for cappuccino you have to spend >15 PLN....espresso >9-10 PLN ..which is 2 times more expensive then in Italy

To those of you saying you need 8/10k to be comfortable for a family of four, do you mean PLN? Then others say 3k...7k...
Anonymous on Aug 18, 2023:
For anyone single asking, you need at least 3k net to live in Warsaw excluding the rent. Because honestly, it all depends on what apartment you want. Prices on this site more or less match the reality. So for now you need around 7k in total to live a good life. Anything more than that you will save, if you are a regular person not a boujie lifestyle fan.
Anonymous on Aug 18, 2023:
For a family of two to be really comfortable in Warsaw you need around 10k net, but you'll easily survive on 8k if you find an apartament for like 4k, which is possible (If you have a car you need more for sure).
Anonymous on May 21, 2023:
Hi, how is the monthly expense for family of two in warsaw? Considering an average lifestyle not lavish.
Zeev on May 04, 2023:
Hello everyone,

I am considering moving to Warsaw (our suburbs, outside the center), keeping my current job and a gross salary equaling 16,300 Zloty/month. I want to bring my gf with me who doesn't work (at least not in the beginning). How well would we do with a more conservative and not lavish lifestyle? We do want 2 to 3 bedrooms but nothing super fancy and go for more pragmatism than anything else.
Sasha on Apr 19, 2023:
Hello,

could someone advise if the salary of 8000 zlt after taxes will be enough for a single male in Warsaw including the rent of apartment?
Anonymous on Apr 07, 2023:
30k gross is a good salary and you can pay off a mortgage easily but consider b2b contract as you will pay a lot less in taxes, that's what most people in IT making that kind of money do.
Anonymous on Mar 20, 2023:
Hello,

is a net monthly salary (after tax & social insurance) of 18.200 PLN (30.000 gross) a competitive one for a Senior Java Developer with 15+years of experience?
Can one pay a mortgage of a decent 3-rooms department at a good location and still live comfortably with this amount?

Thanks.
Warsaw on Mar 13, 2023:
The cost of living in lastf two years has increased by 30-40%, also the price per square meter of housing, or rent from landlords, or rent for cooperatives. It's expensive and it will get even more expensive, and its started before the war in Ukraine.
Tom on Feb 11, 2023:
Data for Warsaw are from 2010 (it is 2023), Diet Coke in restaurant for 6 PLN? In store is more expensive, in restaurant is 8-12 PLN.

If you want to have real numbers add +30-40% to numbers provided by this service.
Jupiter on Feb 05, 2023:
Hi,
I hope it would help.

It depends on months but annually:

7000 Gross is about 4700 net
10 000 Gross is about 6700 net
15 000 Gross is about 10 000 net
20 000 Gross is about 12 000 net

Cost of living
Single - modest standard, renting a room not a flat completely minimum is 2500 (more to survive), 3000-3500 to live
Single - modest standard, renting a flat at least 4500 (without car)
Single middle class with car about 7000 with possibility to save some money.

Couple - modest standard about 6000-6500 (without car)
Couple - middle class about 9000-10000

Family 2+2 - modest 9000-10000
Family 2+2 - middle class about 15 000

Other big Polish cities like, Gdansk, Poznan, Wroclaw, Krakow about 5 to 10% less.
Smaller cities like; Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Lublin, Rzeszów, about 10-15% less should be ok.

Warsaw and Poland in general is probably the most overvalued business destination in Europe. The country can be a good destination for tourism and the people can be nice, but it is indeed a terrible place for investment. It is hard to do business in Poland, Estonia or Lithuania are 100 times better, Poland is extremely corrupt, I had to bribe the police to not have my investments taken away. I am totally unsurprised that every year more and more Polish citizens emigrate to the UK, Germany or even Czechia. As a said, Lithuania, Czech republic or Estonia are way better, I’ve even had less troubles trying to invest in Ukraine, although it is also a bad place. I’ve ended up setting up my R&D offices in Prague and Tallinn, and also an operational office in Klaipeda. I would never advise anybody to invest in Poland.

Michał on Sep 18, 2021:
Most prices are accurate, I would say the coffee price is a little higher in reality. The average salary is also higher, according to the latest data it's 5300 PLN a month after tax. 4000-4500 is now standard for many jobs like customer service etc. It's kind of a crazy time right now in Poland in general - salaries going up fast - prices too, unfortunately. I would say compare with salaries prices of food products, going out and some services like internet, etc - are good. I can't say it about renting/buying a flat. You can rent a studio out of the center for let's say 1700 but the one-bedroom apartment is definitely more than 2000 a month plus bills. As mister Kacper mentioned above if you want to have a comfortable life in Warsaw especially as a foreigner definitely should have around 2000 CAD - which is around 6000 PLN a month.
Kacper Czerwinski on Apr 13, 2021:
I'd like to add to live comfortably in Warsaw for one person without rent i'd say it's about 2000cad/usd a month, obviously usd is better off, it would differ with everyone. example gas, vehicle engine size, amount of time driven, if you smoke, do you drink alcohol... and i'm not adding costs of gym mems or anything else. basic needs only. Easy 2000 dollars a month, one bedroom appartment you can spend 1000euro or more for a higher range appartment, the lower ends places 500-800 euros.
Kacper Czerwinski on Apr 13, 2021:
rent has increased, cost of living, products of any kind or service basically inflation due to covid. as well as realestate has went up by a few percent, so 1sqm 25k zloty city center and up

A deal was made between the U S and the U K after the U K left the EU on January 1,2021 and yes it's legal between UK and US.Both countries agreed to have joint business ventures minus any EU interference which the EU is infamous for.The EU cannot be part of any ventures between UK and US and it's a known fact since Brexit is in place now.Trump and the UK presented to U S congress many instances where the EU made it very difficult doing business with the EU so Congress put it in legal stone even before the UK left EU.Notice how the US banned any EU countries from visiting US during covid19. But notice how anyone from the UK could visit. It doesn't matter if any European country has adopted the euro or not as their currency because just being a member of the EU is enough to keep them out of any investments the UK and US have permanently. It doesn't matter since Poland can reject certain things the EU does because Poland can reject things all day the EU does. The US and UK could care less about things Poland and the EU disagree on.Why do you think Merkel rushed to Washington to talk with Trump just like many other EU countries did? To save their own asses from their mouths in the EU but it didn't work not only with Trump but the U S Congress either. Basically anyone from the EU will be pushed out of the U S which includes Poland obviously. As of late up comes Macron on his white horse with two nuclear armed submarines into Chinese waters like the UK or the US are going to save France not happening. France and no other EU members shouldn't attack their economic savior being China how funny but that's how it's really turned out for all of the EU.All EU countries are prohibited from jumping ship leaving the EU to be a part of any business ventures the UK and US have together. The UK remembers how the US stepped up when the UK asked for US to save them from the BUZZ BOMBS from Germany which were destroying UK and was ready to be occupied by Germany. The UK actually paid back every dollars worth of US military aid including humanitarian aid the US provided for the UK.However France never paid the US anything after asking US military to save their lousy country. NATO has never been fair to the US especially when countries like France and Germany sat back to watch US military take care of everything. Macron was so arrogant Trump needed to remind France it could've been speaking German. NATO as it's referred to was never a national alliance. However now the EU can call it EUTO because any members of the EU are truly on their own. Oh and the EU'S new friends China Russia needs to know their economies are tanked if the EU haven't figured it out yet. Biden has no overreach when the U S Congress passes any laws which are permanent believe it.
Anonymous on Feb 09, 2021:
The U S congress is talking about sending many Polish back to Poland especially since there's over 9 million currently living in the U S.Polish Americans they're called who gained U S citizenship. Times are changing throughout the U S. The U S has been a dumping ground for many countries globally. Let's see how do people phrase it? The U S is a country of immigrants. Congress doesn't need approval from any branch of government including the president to esponge Polish with U S citizenship and they never have. So far people from around the world who have gained U S citizenship have been forced to leave permanently and Polish aren't exempt from it either. Gone are the days of the free ride program in the U S.
