Geraldton local giving my two cents here. Areas such as and around Spalding, Rangeway and Wonthella are hotspots for unruly behaviour including rock throwing from bored children/teenagers at night. Stay in well-lit areas of these suburbs mentioned above and avoid darker areas when driving at night.

In-town is generally safe if you stick to a group and don't wander off alone past 8pm/9pm. Don't leave valuables in your car just even when parked at your house or accommodation.

But otherwise, Geraldton is pretty safe and you should have no issues if you plan on moving here or plan on having a holiday here.

Town area is safe until about 7pm at night, then assaults/drug dealing occur regularly.
