Some dir ty left ist called Griesplatz not a Ghetto, just full of "foreigners" :D and streets in Jakomini full of garbage because of "foreigners". I have googled about Jakominiplatz and found this.
"Kill infidels"
14-year-old planned terro rist attack in Graz city center

I guess those "foreigners" must have come from some terror ist country?

If I compare Graz to Vienna I feel much less save in Graz even during the day time than in Vienna.

The City is very safe. The number of beggars and homeless has gotten much better in the last years in my opinion. No homeless at 6am at Jakominiplatz anymore.

Some racist call Gries especially Griesplatz a Ghetto because it has a lot of foreign markets(doener kebab, turkish markets, rumainian markets). Thats not true. I do wait nearly every day at around 8pm on Griesplatz.(Busstation) I've never seen anything strange or unsafe. Most people that call this area so life in the Villa districts like Waltendorf on the east of the City and have never even stepped foot on Western of the Mur.

What however has gotten worse is the amount of trash on the streets in Jakomini. The districts population grows rapidly but there is not more cleaning then before.

I agree with the comment below, Graz isn't what it used to be. It's still a safe city though.

Graz doesn't feel save anymore. I was there in autumn last year and it was ok. Now in the summer I have witnessed several harassment in the public transport. Also Griesplatz looks like ghetto. I am not planning to visit anymore.
