Your city was (again) hit on for no reason earlier in the month as 'most violent in the world'. Very, very strange.

The unsupported source also said (don't laugh) that the largely stable Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region has 43 of the 50 most murderous cities in the world when 19 of the top 25 for homicide alone are already outiside LAC.

You (again) have nothing to worry about when it comes to being ranked first in the world. None of your cities are in the top 25. I'm not sure why this stuff keeps getting recycled, there's no point to it. The rankings are not only wildly inaccurate, they do tremendous damage to the places on the lists which are largely not dangerous.

I'm having to reassure the people of Guayaquil.

The 25 most homicidal cities in the world 2023, by continent:

1. Africa 15
2. America 6
3. Asia 4

The American cities don't include Guayaquil, which incredibly was recently posited as 'the world's most violent' in an extraordinary pair of posts within the same prestigious (normally prestigious) media outlet. 5 of the 6 American cities are in Venezuela, the other is Port-au-Prince.

These hate hits sounded like they were strictly talking about homicide, as if other forms of violence aren't violence. If you included all deadly violence forms instead of just homicide, Port-au-Prince would be the only American city that gets on the list.

The information above is, not surprisingly, (note the African elephant in the room) corroberated. Yes you can rely on it, I'm not a troll.

This obviously doesn't take into consideration the considerable and sudden upsurge in violence Ecuador has experienced which understandably is frightening, it isn't meant to undermine that.
