Hong Kong is no longer safe. Local citizen and local media labeled Hong Kong as "International knife crime hubs" (國際大刀會), you can google 國際大刀會 and use google translate to figure out.

Beside knife crime and traids (hong kong mafia), fraud is also increased sharply. In 2018 there are only 8216 fraud cases reported while 2023 there are more than 39000 fraud cases reported.

Amazingly safe day and night, basically anywhere. No matter shopping or drinking at bars, you feel safe.

I am not a politician anyway. :)

Having traveled to many cities around the world, Hong Kong is one of the safest. Walked in the streets of a relatively impoverished neighborhood at midnight, no sign of danger at all. The public transport is safe, clean and convenient, truly world class.

Hong Kong still one of the safest cities in the world. Ignore those who say Hong Kong is not safe anymore because of the whole protests situation and National Security Law. Breaking such laws doesn't mean the city is unsafe by any means, people should accept and respect the laws instead of complain.

Very safe so long as you do not criticise China or Xi, don't advocate for Hong Kong democracy or independence and don't get arbitrarily suspected of secession, subversion, terrorism, or collusion with foreign organisations.

Oh and you better not have said or done any of these things at any point in the past, anywhere on earth, because it still counts in the eyes of China!

HK is a very very safe city despite the issue with police. Stuck at political problem.

It's still very safe, just U can't say anything bad about China or police.

And mostly of of time (like >90%) U don't have to worry about the crime about robbery, theft, sexual threats, etc. Nothing to worry about going at night.U can go anywhere u want without any hesitation.

HK was safe before 2019. Now it is safe again.

No more teargas and protests - people got beaten up into obedience

It's very safe and harmonic now and there is nothing nice about it

People are simply not smiling at each other anymore and you can never know when you are the next person to be arrested, or at least randomly checked by police. If you're 20-something male, police can just randomly tell you to show your smartphones gallery and browsing history - they don't even waste time on decrypting https etc

Used to be very safe.

Not anymore. Police state now.
Not even Hong Kong anymore.
