The police station is never open, if you ring you get 5 minutes of ring 000 in a emergency or go to our website, etc, etc, etc after you go through all that the phone rings out with no answer. The crime is getting worse and we have a lot of trouble with our aboriginal population, abusing staff at liquor stores and generally behaving badly. The police don't do anything about it because they can't, there hands are tied, so it's not there fault. There is a rapidly growing class system and the crime is getting worse, and it is basically very quickly becoming a crap place to live. There are a lot of hoon drivers, in my street at least 3 or 4 times a day, have called the police and nothing happens. Sit down the end of my street for a few hours and they would make a fortune in fines in just a few hours, with idiots using the road like a racetrack. It's becoming pointless to even try and do anything about it. Whyalla isn't such a great place.

You only get the negative comments posted these days. No one posts the positives on these sites. I’ve never had an issue with crime, nor do I feel unsafe going for a walk or being robbed… and I live in an area considered “bad” due to housing trust residents being on the street. They all keep to themselves in my experience. Police are friendly, respectful and helpful - people complaining about them should complain about the laws they have to follow, as their hands are tied generally.

Wtf this was the place to be in the 80s 90s 00s but it seams to have gone down hill fast since 2010 not enough police or drug related help and before long it seems it's going to be needing more than more police

Crime rates are through the roof in Whyalla we badly need more police on the ground and a police station or office closer to the west side suburbs of Whyalla Stuart

Police refusing to deal with drug/ice dealers so they can make money with on money out of on the spot fines fining the drug dealer customers . Police station not open when it is supposed to be closing at 5pm and after that you can't get police assistance despite the fact that they are supposed to be open till 9 pm
