I agree the prices are a little low, for example the cheapest eggs I could find were $3.99 and the cheapest 1 litre of milk was $2.79. I compared against my local big three grocers in my Edmonton area. In general if you are looking hard for the cheaper items (which isn't easy to do) it's about 5-10% more expensive then the numbers above. However, technically you can buy a 10lb bag of of russet potatoes for $8. That's under the price above. So in general the numbers above should be close to what is achievable if you spend a chunk of time and gas driving around to get the cheapest items.

Nonsense. Prices are considerably higher than suggested here. Not sure where these guys get their data but it is woefully incorrect. For example, a loaf of white sandwich bread will cost you at least $4, for the cheap stuff. A dozen eggs is an easy $5, for the white, caged chicken farm eggs - i.e. the cheapest ones you can buy, that taste like they're the cheapest ones you can buy. Produce is extremely expensive - asparagus for example typically sells for $7/lb or higher, potatoes $1.99/lb or higher, green peppers $3.99/lb or higher. Beef has gotten so expensive I no longer buy it - and it's raised right here in Alberta.

TLDR; These prices are misleading and almost completely incorrect.
