Bhubaneswar is a beautiful city with full of temples. In last two to three decades lot of real estate development had taken place, for which annual average temperature (both maximum and minimum temperatures) are increasing. So winter has become shorter and number of rainy days also have become fewer though the total annual rainfall remain more or less same, so intensity of rainfall increased. Bhubaneswar development authority and state government has provided many facilities to the citizens, City bus service (known as MO BUS) is perhaps most appreciated, drinking water through pipeline to every household including slum dwellers through water ATM, garbage collection from every home every day in segregated manner are also appreciated, main roads are quite wide and well maintained too. Odisha government started planning for metro by spending it's own resource and likely to come in next couple of years to decongest traffic and provide a better and quicker public transport. Periphery development of Lingaraj tempale by removing unauthorized occupation has been also appreciated by citizens. Mo cycle as a means to commute for public was provisioned, however it was not accessed by many citizens, so it became unused and redundant. Organizing Hockey world cup for two times at Bhubaneswar, has been proud moment for all citizens as it has attracted more global tourists. Airport has been modernized and railway station is also on the way for modification to accommodate higher number of passengers and state bus stand is yet to be modernized. Electricity bill is mostly paid online by many citizens and regular SMS regarding power disruption for any maintenance is also received from authority. Malls, cinema theaters, water parks and other place of entertainment are also available and well maintained. Still Bhubaneswar is not a district and no big industry are available, so air quality is relatively not polluted too much. electric buses, cars, scooters have started plying on the road and avenue plantation are green for good maintenance. There are many private and government hospitals and also many reputed education colleges and universities. So overall quality of life is quite good, except the price of real estate is quite high.

Bhubaneswar is still a tier-2 city, the other city of Orissa being Cuttack. Odisha is way behind in many parameters such as employment opportunities, infrastructure and education facilities. The locals have to migrate to other places in search of jobs. It is a sad truth.
Odisha lacks more urban areas and a large city in its state to stop the outflow of local talent.
Even nearby cities such as Visakhapatnam are much more developed than Odisha cities.
